UTOPIA: Brendan Curtis

Brendan Curtis (he/him) is a Liverpool-based drag artist, writer, performer, poet and chef. He co-produces and hosts EAT ME, a local 3 course drag dinner cabaret, Preach! a queer disco and SPEW a scratch night for new queer work.

For our second Utopia project, Brendan will create three audio poems/stories, which explore speculative future potentials for queer utopia which celebrate crossing the boundaries of the human body and gender, radical forms of love and natural species which exist outside of heterosexuality. Written over a two week period with little resources or time. Initially intended to just be poems, two of them have grown into something more.

We The People emerged out of the memories of participating in radical queer communities and conversations about cults and polygamy.

Ruby’s Dream is written from the perspective of Brendan’s micro-poodle and explores the fascist tendencies in dogs and people.

Band Of Gold is a Sci-Fi story celebrating the intersection of transness and crossing the boundaries of the human body and form.
