“It's all gone pear-shaped” attempts to expose the parallels between the private and public spheres, investigating the normality of coping mechanisms used to diminish a sense of existentialism in everyday life. Through the art of craft, media and installation This Artist Is Screaming intends to showcase an amalgamation of artworks which entwine to create an immersive experience, delving into the uncanny. A telephone, a lighter and an inhaler stand as the three main coping mechanisms, a personal assumption that Emily feels her audience may relate widely too.

There's avoidance in the artwork – bright colours and enticing aesthetics are in use to ensnare the audience “fantasy as a form of disguise” a delusion which targets the very definition of a coping mechanism. Through exaggeration and humour she aims to make her artwork interactive and relatable – bridging the gaps between coping and living. Humour being a recurring theme within her artwork, Emily feels that the art of laughter can engage an audience, encouraging their own revaluation. It's gunna be one hell of a show and Emily is so excited to share all of the weird and wonderful explorations she has made during her time at The Royal Standard.
