Storage Hunters: TRS Christmas Edition

The Royal Standard proudly presents ‘Storage Hunters: TRS Christmas Edition’; an experimental auction based on the hit TV series Storage Hunters.

Storage Hunters is a TV show in which locked and abandoned containers are auctioned off to a group of bidders who try to outflank each other to win the containers’ secret contents. The haul in question could be a suitcase stuffed with cold hard cash, but it may well be a cardboard box full of old jam and fingernail clippings.

‘Storage Hunters: The Royal Standard Christmas Edition’ is a launch event and fundraiser for our new premises, and will double as a Christmas celebration. The event will run in a similar way to the TV series; expect to be cajoled and coerced by our presenters into bidding on concealed art works, displayed within a studio as opposed to a container. Items include artworks that have been gifted to us specifically for the event, rare special editions from artists who have previously shown at TRS, works made by our studio member artists, and iconic TRS memorabilia.

The evening will also see the launch of the publication ‘Conscious Coupling’, the result of a writing residency that paired four artists from TRS with writers from the Double Negative online magazine. Developed over a four month period in early 2016,  ‘Conscious Coupling’ presents in-depth reflections on the artists’ practices outside of the boundary of the gallery and critical review. As well as this, LJMU’s 1.11 residents Vs. have their first exhibition opening, UNIVERSUS: Vs. vs. Rachel Cunningham Clarke.

So, join us for an evening of entertainment, and support The Royal Standard in our new home in Northern Lights in the Baltic Triangle. The money raised will help make the space a strong public resource for the artist-led community in Liverpool. Get ready to be charmed by studio member hosts, bring along some cash, and go home this Christmas with some good (or maybe some bad) art. As is TRS tradition, the party will go one late into the night, promising DJ sets and musical interventions from some of our in-house artists and friends of the gallery.

This is a ticketed event. Early bird tickets are available on Eventbrite for £4 or entry will be £5 on the door. Your ticket will include a drink on arrival. There will be a price limit of £50 for all auction items, and a variety of levels of affordability eg. £5-10, £10-20, £20-30, £40-50.
